Patricia Castaneda-Wysocka, MD

Christine B. Chung, MD

Dr. Chung is the chair of the Department of Radiology at the UC San Diego School of Medicine, where she leads efforts to advance research, education, clinical excellence, and community engagement. In her additional role as director of the Musculoskeletal Imaging Research Group, she works alongside leading experts in physics, pathology, orthopedic surgery, and bioengineering. Together, their research centers on magnetic resonance imaging for cartilage evaluation and tissue characterization.

Her laboratory is widely recognized in the scientific community for its work on validating imaging biomarkers using histologic and biomechanical reference standards. In recognition of her significant contributions to the field, Dr. Chung was honored with the Distinguished Investigator Award by the Academy of Radiology & Biomedical Imaging Research in 2018.

A respected authority in radiology, Dr. Chung is known for her leadership, clinical expertise, and commitment to education. She is a fellow of the International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine and holds active membership in several professional organizations, including the American College of Radiology, the American Association for Women Radiologists, and the American Society for Bone and Mineral Research. She currently serves as the president of the International Skeletal Society, becoming only the second woman to lead the organization in its 52-year history.

Dr. Chung earned her medical degree from the University of Iowa and completed her residency in diagnostic radiology at The Ohio State University.

Beata Ciszkowska-Łysoń, MD

A specialist in radiology, diagnostic imaging, and nuclear medicine, she graduated from the Second Faculty of the Medical University of Warsaw in 1991. She earned her doctorate in medical sciences in 2004 based on a thesis on the assessment of the neurotoxic effects of chemotherapy using magnetic resonance imaging and proton spectroscopy.

She specializes in comprehensive musculoskeletal diagnostics in children and adults, utilizing radiography, ultrasonography, computed tomography, and magnetic resonance imaging. Joint, muscle, and tendon diagnostics hold a special place in her practice, including the evaluation of patients following ligament reconstructions, cartilage and joint repair procedures, and Achilles tendon surgery.

She gained her professional experience, among others, at the Department of Diagnostic Imaging at the Second Faculty of Medicine of the Medical University of Warsaw, working in the ultrasound, scintigraphy, and magnetic resonance imaging laboratories. Since 2001, she has been associated with Carolina Medical Center.

She has extensive teaching experience, having delivered lectures and training sessions on musculoskeletal diagnostics for physicians, including courses organized by the Polish Society of Radiology, the Medical Center of Postgraduate Medical Education, and training centers specializing in diagnostic imaging.

Prof. Marcin Domżalski, MD, PhD

Graduated with honours from the Faculty of Medicine at the Medical University of Łódź in 1997. Fellowship at the Vojta Orthopaedic Clinic in Heidelberg in 1998. From 1998 to 2002, full-time doctoral studies at the Medical University of Łódź.

Awarded a doctorate in medical science with distinction in 2002. OASI Milano fellowship in 2002. Research Fellowship from Thomas Jefferson University of Philadelphia at A.I. duPont Hospital for Children, Wilmington, DE, USA, in 2004-2005.

Specialist in Orthopaedics and Musculoskeletal Traumatology since 2006. Completed his habilitation in medical science at the Medical University of Łódź in 2011. Since February 2015, he has been the Head of the Department of Orthopaedics and Traumatology of the Medical University of Łódź at the Military Medical Academy Memorial Teaching Hospital: Central Veterans’ Hospital in Łódź.

In 2020, he received the Presidential nomination for Full Professor.

In 2015, he was among the founding members of the Polish Arthroscopic Society and served as the first President of PTArtro from 2015 to 2017. Lectures at schools of arthroscopy: SAPTA and SNACE. Since 2015, member of the State Examination Board in orthopaedics and musculoskeletal traumatology. Current (2023-2025) President of the Łódź Branch of the Polish Society of Orthopaedics and Musculoskeletal Traumatology. Since 2021, Chairman of the Peer Tribunal of the Polish Society of Orthopaedics and Musculoskeletal Traumatology.

Since 2006, international member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons AAOS, member of the international arthroscopic societies ESSKA and ISAKOS. Member of the Polish Society of Orthopaedics and Traumatology. Member of the editorial team of the journals: Medycyna Sportowa / Polish Journal of Sports Medicine and Chirurgia Narządu Ruchu i Ortopedia Polska / Polish Orthopaedics.

Since 2011, he has been in charge of the SPORTO Clinic in Łódź. Since 2010, consulting physician and member of the medical council of the Polish Volleyball Federation. Since 2021, member of the medical council of the Polish Basketball Federation. In 2006-2016, club doctor of the football section of RTS Widzew Łódź. Currently, consulting physician for clubs: RTS Widzew Łódź, basketball: MUKS Widzew and BL Slam Ostrów Wielkopolski, volleyball: ŁKS Commercecon.

Marek Duczkowski, MD, PhD

Dr. Marek Duczkowski, MD, PhD, is a specialist in radiology and diagnostic imaging, affiliated with the Diagnostic Imaging Department at the Institute of Mother and Child in Warsaw.

He is particularly interested in pediatric and oncological radiology, including the diagnosis of bone marrow diseases, bone tumors and cancers, and the imaging of metastatic lesions.

He is the author and co-author of scientific publications and a valued lecturer, conducting training and workshops for physicians at national radiology courses and conferences.

Radosław Grabowski, MD

Radosław Grabowski, MD, is a specialist in orthopedics and traumatology of the musculoskeletal system, with particular experience in the treatment of sports injuries and modern methods of joint regeneration.
He specializes in knee and shoulder arthroscopy, the treatment of ligament injuries, rotator cuff injuries, and shoulder labrum injuries, as well as orthobiology and knee and hip arthroplasty.
He combines clinical work with sports medicine – he collaborates with professional sports and has also gained experience during internships abroad and at prestigious football clubs. He is also an instructor and lecturer at specialized orthopedic courses.

Malwina Kaniewska, MD

Dr. Malwina Kaniewska-Pelczar, MD, is a specialist in radiology and diagnostic imaging, with experience in advanced breast diagnostics and musculoskeletal radiology.

In her practice, she utilizes modern imaging techniques, including mammography, tomosynthesis, ultrasound, magnetic resonance imaging, and biopsy procedures guided by various image-guided methods. She also specializes in the diagnosis of the musculoskeletal system, including bone cancer.

She is currently affiliated with the University Hospital Zurich, where she serves as a Senior Attending Physician. She also actively participates in scientific activities and international radiology conferences.

Andrzej Komor, MD

Dr. Andrzej Komor is a specialist in orthopedics and traumatology of the musculoskeletal system, with particular experience in foot and ankle surgery.

He specializes in the treatment of foot deformities, ligament and cartilage reconstruction, arthroscopic procedures, and ankle replacement. He also specializes in knee and shoulder surgery and the use of selected biological therapies in the treatment of degenerative changes.

He is an experienced surgeon and expert in modern methods of treating musculoskeletal conditions and injuries.

Artur Kusak, MD

Artur Kusak, MD, is a specialist in radiology and diagnostic imaging. He graduated from the Medical University of Lodz. He completed internships in musculoskeletal radiology at the Infant Jesus Clinical Hospital in Warsaw and King’s College Hospital in London. He obtained the European Diploma in Radiology (EDiR).

Adam Kwapisz, MD, PhD

Dr. Adam Łukasz Kwapisz, MD, PhD, is a specialist in orthopedics and traumatology of the musculoskeletal system and a professor at the Medical University of Lodz.

He specializes primarily in the diagnosis and treatment of shoulder and elbow conditions, utilizing modern arthroscopic techniques, reconstructive procedures, and arthroplasty. A significant portion of his practice also includes the treatment of sports injuries.

He has extensive international experience gained at renowned centers in the US and Canada. He is a valued lecturer and expert, actively involved in Polish and international orthopedic societies.

Jędrzej Lesman, MD

Dr. Jędrzej Lesman, MD, PhD, is a specialist in orthopedics and traumatology of the musculoskeletal system, affiliated with the Clinic of Orthopedics and Traumatology at the Medical University of Lodz.

In his practice, he focuses on sports orthopedics, the treatment of injuries and degenerative joint diseases, and ultrasound diagnostics of the musculoskeletal system. He earned his doctorate in medical sciences based on a thesis on knee arthroscopy.

He also developed his clinical experience during international internships in Italy and India. He combines clinical work with research and the care of athletes.

Łukasz Luboiński, MD

Łukasz Luboiński, MD, is a specialist in orthopedics and traumatology of the musculoskeletal system and the Head of the Department of Orthopedics, Traumatology, and Sports Medicine at Carolina Medical Center.

He specializes in the advanced treatment of injuries and disorders of the musculoskeletal system, particularly ligament reconstruction, meniscus transplantation, cartilage reconstruction, knee osteotomies, and hip and shoulder arthroscopy.

He is a co-founder of the Polish Arthroscopy Society, international instructor of arthroscopic techniques, and valued lecturer. For many years, he has conducted cadaver courses and training for orthopedic surgeons, sharing his extensive surgical experience gained in Poland and abroad.

Krzysztof Małecki, MD, PhD

Dr. Krzysztof Małecki, MD, PhD, is a specialist in orthopedics and traumatology of the musculoskeletal system, with particular experience in pediatric orthopedics. He directs the Department of Orthopedics and Traumatology with the Pediatric Hand Surgery Unit at the Polish Mother’s Memorial Hospital in Łódź.

He specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of congenital and acquired musculoskeletal defects in children and adolescents, including hip dysplasia, foot and hand deformities, limb injuries, and neurological conditions affecting musculoskeletal function.

His research focuses, among other things, on patellar instability in children and adolescents. He combines clinical work with research and teaching, developing innovative treatment methods for the youngest patients with musculoskeletal disorders and injuries.

Jacek Mazek, MD

Dr. Jacek Mazek, MD, PhD, is a specialist in orthopedics and traumatology of the musculoskeletal system and one of the pioneers of hip arthroscopy in Poland.

He specializes in minimally invasive treatment of joint injuries and conditions, with particular emphasis on the hip, knee, shoulder, and ankle. He performs procedures such as arthroscopies, ligament reconstructions, meniscus and cartilage repairs, and the treatment of Achilles tendon disorders.

He is a valued lecturer and instructor of arthroscopic techniques, actively involved in training physicians in Poland and abroad, and in research in the field of modern joint surgery.

Piotr Palczewski, MD

He began his professional career at the Second Department of Clinical Radiology of the Medical University of Warsaw. Since 2005, he has been associated with the First Department of Clinical Radiology of the Medical University of Warsaw, where he established close collaboration with the Department of Orthopedics and Traumatology of the Musculoskeletal System of the Medical University of Warsaw.

His research interests focus on the diagnosis of nervous system diseases, musculoskeletal pain syndromes, and modern methods of joint cartilage imaging.

He serves as president of the Section of Musculoskeletal Radiology of the Polish Medical Society of Radiology. He is a valued lecturer and expert in the field of musculoskeletal radiology, recognized in the medical community throughout Poland. He is also a co-founder of the RadioNova school of musculoskeletal radiology, which contributes to the dissemination of knowledge and raising standards of diagnostic imaging in this field.

Mini Pathria, MD

Dr. Pathria serves as a professor in the Radiology Department at the UC San Diego School of Medicine, where she teaches medical students, residents, and fellows. She has delivered numerous lectures on magnetic resonance imaging, trauma, and spinal imaging at both national and international conferences. Her academic contributions include authoring the book *MRI of the Musculoskeletal System* and coauthoring many scholarly articles in the field of musculoskeletal imaging.

She completed a fellowship in musculoskeletal radiology at UC San Diego and a diagnostic radiology residency at McMaster University Medical School in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, where she also received her medical degree. Dr. Pathria holds board certification in diagnostic radiology.

Michał Podgórski, MD, PhD

Dr. Michał Tomasz Podgórski, MD, PhD, is a specialist in radiology and diagnostic imaging, a researcher, and a professor at the Medical University of Lodz. He serves as Head of the 3rd Department of Radiology and Diagnostic Imaging at the Medical University of Lodz.

He is particularly interested in musculoskeletal ultrasound, pediatric diagnostics, and issues at the intersection of radiology and clinical anatomy. He is the author of numerous scientific publications and educational materials, and is also an experienced lecturer and trainer in the field of ultrasound.

He actively combines clinical, research, and teaching work, promoting modern diagnostic imaging among physicians and students.

Donald L. Resnick, MD

Dr. Donald Resnick has built a distinguished career in radiology that spans more than four decades, the majority of which he has spent at UC San Diego, where he serves as Chief of Osteoradiology. A prolific academic, he has contributed as a reviewer or editorial board member to more than 30 peer-reviewed journals—an appropriate role given his authorship of over 850 articles in the fields of orthopedic and radiologic medicine.

He has written or contributed to 25 textbooks and book chapters, with his landmark works *Diagnosis of Bone and Joint Disorders* (a comprehensive five-volume set) and *Internal Derangements of Joints* widely regarded as foundational texts in musculoskeletal radiology. Throughout his career, Dr. Resnick has delivered more than 1,200 invited lectures and presentations at both national and international scientific and educational conferences.

Dr. Resnick has been recognized with numerous prestigious honors, including the Gold Medal from the American Roentgen Ray Society, the Founder’s Medal from the International Skeletal Society, and the title of Educator of the Year from the Radiological Society of North America.

Beyond his own prolific contributions, Dr. Resnick’s greatest legacy may be his impact on future generations. Over 250 radiologists have completed his renowned musculoskeletal fellowship program at UCSD, many of whom have gone on to become leaders in the field. Widely regarded as the “father of modern musculoskeletal radiology,” Dr. Resnick’s influence on the specialty is both profound and enduring.

Prof. Piotr Rutkowski, MD, PhD

Prof. Piotr Rutkowski, MD, PhD, is a distinguished surgical oncologist, scientist, and expert in the treatment of skin cancers, melanomas, soft tissue and bone sarcomas, and GIST tumors.
He serves as Head of the Clinic of Soft Tissue, Bone, and Melanoma Cancers at the National Institute of Oncology in Warsaw. For years, he has also actively participated in shaping the Polish oncology care system, co-creating key solutions within the National Oncology Strategy and the National Oncology Network.
He is the author and co-author of numerous scientific publications, participant in international clinical trials, and valued lecturer and expert. His scientific and organizational activities also have an international dimension, engaging in the work of key oncology societies and expert bodies.
He combines extensive clinical experience with research, teaching, and systemic activities, remaining one of the most recognizable Polish experts in the field of oncological surgery.

Paweł Szaro, MD, PhD

He graduated from the Second Faculty of Medicine at the Medical University of Warsaw in 2006. Since 2007, he has been associated with the Department of Descriptive and Clinical Anatomy, where he has developed his research and teaching interests.

From 2010 to 2015, he completed specialization training in radiology and diagnostic imaging at the Infant Jesus Clinical Hospital in Warsaw. In 2010, he obtained a doctorate in medical sciences based on a dissertation entitled “Comparative Anatomy of the Calcaneal Tendon.” In 2015, he passed the European Diploma in Radiology (EDiR), and after completing his residency, he obtained the title of specialist in radiology and diagnostic imaging.

Musculoskeletal diagnostics holds a special place in his professional and scientific activities. He develops his interests in this area through participation in specialized conferences and scientific meetings, publications, and clinical practice.

Since 2018, he has been working at Sahlgrenska University Hospital in Gothenburg, Sweden (Sahlgrenska Universitetssjukhuset), in the Department of Musculoskeletal Radiology. His daily practice includes diagnosing sports injuries and musculoskeletal neoplasms. Interventional procedures, including computed tomography-guided core bone biopsies and ultrasound-guided biopsies, also constitute a significant part of his clinical practice.

He is also actively involved in teaching. He teaches radiological anatomy of the musculoskeletal system to medical students as part of clinical anatomy, as well as musculoskeletal radiology as part of radiology courses.

He is also responsible for the training of resident physicians (ST-läkare) at the Department of Musculoskeletal Radiology. As a lecturer, he participates in numerous specialization courses and training sessions for physicians in specialization.

In September 2018, he was elected to the board of the Swedish Society of Musculoskeletal Radiology (Svensk Förening för Muskuloskeletal Radiologi), which reflects his active involvement in the development of this field of radiology also internationally.

Wojciech Szewczyk, MD

Wojciech Szewczyk, MD, is a specialist in radiology and diagnostic imaging, with particular experience in musculoskeletal radiology and sports injury diagnosis.

He serves as the chairman of the Sports Medicine Diagnostics Section of the Polish Medical Society of Radiology.

His practice focuses on the diagnosis of joints, tendons, ligaments, and post-traumatic changes in athletes. He is a valued lecturer and expert, regularly participating in conferences, courses, and training sessions on modern musculoskeletal imaging diagnostics.

Jan Świątkowski, MD

Medical education:

Specialised in Radiology: 1969 – first degree and 1973 – second degree specialisation.

Founder of the PLTR Musculoskeletal Diagnostics Section and its first chairman until 2013.

Additional Information:

Author of numerous publications on musculoskeletal diagnostics, inflammatory and degenerative lesions, musculoskeletal tumours and primary ossification disorders – osteochondrodysplasia, as well as lectures and scientific reports at national and international congresses (approx. 300 in total).
Comes from a family of doctors, began his medical career as an internist and credits Dr Maria Borejko, who introduced him to skeletal radiology, as his greatest mentor.
Originator and co-founder, together with Dr M. Krzemiński, of the Orthopaedics & Radiology Symposium, which has been held annually for 15 years (since 1999).

Janusz Wieczorek, MD

Janusz Wieczorek, MD, is a specialist in radiology and diagnostic imaging, with particular experience in musculoskeletal diagnostics.
In his practice, he specializes in ultrasound examinations and modern imaging diagnostics of musculoskeletal disorders and injuries.
He is also a lecturer and author of scientific papers, and has developed his teaching skills through programs such as the “Teach the Teachers” program of the European School of Radiology.

Urszula Zdanowicz, MD

Urszula Zdanowicz, MD, PhD, is a specialist in orthopedics and traumatology of the musculoskeletal system, with extensive experience in sports orthopedics and reconstructive surgery of the lower limb.

She specializes primarily in the treatment of injuries and conditions of the knee, ankle, and foot, utilizing arthroscopic techniques, ligament and meniscus reconstruction, cartilage repair, and advanced reconstructive procedures.

She combines clinical practice with research and teaching. She is a valued lecturer and instructor, actively participating in national and international projects dedicated to orthopedic surgery, sports medicine, and tissue regeneration.
